O Lord Jesus Christ, we ask that you bless us as we call upon Your holy name on this blessed day, in which You became incarnate through Your most holy mother - the glorious feast of the Annunciation - also the day on which we celebrate freedom and democracy, as we commemorate the 182nd anniversary of the independence of the Greek people from slavery. We ask that You bless the elected officials of this state and of this nation, and the leaders of all nations of the world, that they may be guided by Your goodness only, and not by the powers of evil. We ask that You instill in all of mankind, a new vision of world peace in which arrogance and the sense of superiority do not become obstacles in the quest for peace. May You grant us the ability to always uphold dignity and respect for all human beings, reminding us that we have all been created in Your image and likeness.
