EXTENDING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF FRANK KENDRA | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Frank |
2 | Kendra, the devoted brother of Albert Kendra and his wife, Jeanne, the uncle of three nephews, |
3 | Michael Kendra and his wife, Heather, Jeffrey Kendra and his wife, Sarah, and Daniel Kendra |
4 | and his companion, Karen Pelletier, and the grand-uncle to many grand-nephews and grand- |
5 | nieces. He was predeceased by his companion, Nancy Franklin; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Mr. Kendra was born in Tokyo, Japan, the son of the late Walter and |
7 | Yoshiko Kendra. He had attended Woonsocket High School, and was a graduate of UMass- |
8 | Amherst; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Described by his students as "a passionate and fun educator who brought |
10 | energy to every class," Mr. Kendra had taught at the former Woonsocket Junior High School and |
11 | at Woonsocket High School for more than thirty-five years, and had continued to substitute teach |
12 | for many years after his retirement; and |
13 | WHEREAS, In his youth, Mr. Kendra had been a great athlete, who later served his |
14 | community as a volunteer hockey referee and baseball umpire. He enjoyed studying and |
15 | watching the stock market, as well as following local politics and visiting casinos. He was an |
16 | avid Boston Sports fan, had a large collection of favorite t-shirts, and loved all dogs but |
17 | particularly his faithful furry companion, Tawny; and |
18 | WHEREAS, Frank Kendra had a ready smile, an infectious laugh, and a friendly and |
19 | gregarious nature. He was a beloved friend and colleague, and will be fondly remembered and |
20 | dearly missed; now, therefore be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses deepest |
2 | sympathy on the passing of Frank Kendra; and be it further |
3 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
4 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Albert Kendra and Family. |
