S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING LISA GARCIA ON BEING NAMED THE "2022 RHODE ISLAND

TEACHER OF THE YEAR"

     WHEREAS, Lisa Garcia, a math teacher at North Kingstown High School for the past

twenty-seven years, inspires her students to envision the possibilities, to have confidence in

themselves and their abilities, and to believe in a future full of promise; and

     WHEREAS, For her dedication to young people and education, Ms. Garcia has been

named the 2022 Rhode Island Teacher of the Year. This recognition is a momentous tribute to an

exceptional individual who has had a significant and profound impact on the lives of her students;

and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Garcia graduated from Rhode Island College earning her Bachelor's

degree in secondary education mathematics and her Master of Education in secondary education;

and

     WHEREAS, Combining a genuine passion for teaching with her enthusiasm for her

subject matter, Ms. Garcia has led myriad initiatives at North Kingstown High School including

serving as Lead Teacher on the school's international Mason Tours, spearheading the "Flocked

Fundraiser" during the pandemic, and always volunteering to help out with student activities; and

     WHEREAS, Continually inspiring and maintaining her students' interest and

participation, Ms. Garcia has taught a panoply of classes during her tenure at North Kingstown

High School including Algebra I, Advanced Placement Calculus, and Computer Science; and

     WHEREAS, The positive impact that Lisa Garcia has had on her students’ lives has

certainly qualified her as the “best of the best” in the State, and she is eminently deserving of our

praise and admiration; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby recognizes and

congratulates Lisa Garcia on the prestigious honor of being named the "2022 Rhode Island

Teacher of the Year" and wishes her continued success, good health and happiness; and be it

further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Lisa Garcia.
