HONORING PAUL J. AGATIELLO, M.D., F.A.C.P. ON THE OCCASION OF HIS | |

1 | WHEREAS, In preparation for a long and distinguished career in Medicine, Dr. Paul |
2 | Agatiello earned a Bachelor's degree with Honors in Biology and a Doctor of Medicine degree |
3 | from Brown University. He completed his training with an Internship and Residency at Rhode |
4 | Island Hospital in 1984; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Upon his Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Dr. Agatiello took a |
6 | position on the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Civic Chorale, and in 1990, co-founded |
7 | the Metacom Medical Center in Warren, where he served as Medical Director and was a |
8 | Practicing Internist. From 1991 through 2007, he also served as the Medical Director of the |
9 | Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol, and as the Medical Director at Haven Health Care in |
10 | Warren from 1985 through 2005; and |
11 | WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Dr. Agatiello expanded his horizons earning |
12 | numerous additional licenses and certificates including FEMA Certificates of Achievement |
13 | courses in Applying ICS to Healthcare Organizations and National Incident Management System; |
14 | and |
15 | WHEREAS, Dr. Agatiello has held a panoply of Consultant, Honorary, and Emeritus, |
16 | Affiliate, and Active staff titles over the past two decades with Rhode Island Hospital, Miriam |
17 | Hospital, Charlton Memorial Hospital, and AdCare Hospital of Worcester, and has been a lecturer |
18 | and assisted in many humanitarian efforts in Panama, Haiti, and across Rhode Island; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Earning the respect of his peers, Dr. Agatiello has been honored with a |

1 | Special Recognition Award for Renovations and New Business Development by Bristol County |
2 | Chamber of Commerce, a CIBA Award for Outstanding Community Service at the Rhode Island |
3 | Veterans Home in Bristol, and the "Aguila Dorada Award" presented by the Rotary Club of El |
4 | Dorada, Panama; and |
5 | WHEREAS, In addition, Dr. Agatiello has been a member of myriad professional |
6 | associations including the American Medical Directors' Association, the American Medical |
7 | Association, the Rhode Island Medical Society, the American College of Physicians, the |
8 | American Society of Internal Medicine, the Society of Sigma Xi, and the American Heart |
9 | Association, as well as being published in a number of medical journals; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Dr. Paul Agatiello leaves a legacy of commitment to his fellow man and has |
11 | touched the lives and hearts of so many people, and he is enormously worthy of our emulation |
12 | and gratitude; now, therefore be it |
13 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby thanks and honors Dr. |
14 | Paul Agatiello on the occasion of his retirement and wishes him good health, fulfillment, and |
15 | some well-earned leisure time; and be it further |
16 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
17 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Paul J. Agatiello, M.D., F.A.C.P. |
