CONGRATULATING LAUREN AND ZACH BAIN, OWNERS OF LUCKY DOGS FARM, | |
ON BEING NAMED THE RICHMOND GRANGE #6 2022, "AGRICULTURALISTS OF THE | |
YEAR" | |

1 | WHEREAS, Lauren Bain was born and raised in West Greenwich. As a young girl, she |
2 | was a member of EWG FFA and 4H, where she showed dairy cows, pigs and chickens, and raised |
3 | Thanksgiving turkeys with her parents. She also enjoys growing flowers, especially Dahlias, and |
4 | meeting up with friends along the East coast and entering local road races; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Zach Bain is a graduate of Ponagansett High School and was a volunteer at |
6 | the Border's Farm in their community garden during high school. He currently serves on the |
7 | Board of Directors for the Foster Land Trust, and is a member of the Narragansett Surf Casters, |
8 | enjoys fresh and salt water fishing, especially deep sea fishing, and during the winter, plays |
9 | Goalie on a men's hockey league; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Lauren and Zach met in class while they were attending the University of |
11 | Rhode Island. They were married in 2019, and managed the Old Saw Mill Farm for three years |
12 | before moving to Foster; and |
13 | WHEREAS, The Bains live at Border's Farm, an authentic New England working farm, |
14 | where they raise Red Devon beef cattle. Zach is the farm manager and is in charge of animal care, |
15 | making hay, clearing brush and maintaining the hiking trails; and |
16 | WHEREAS, The Bains live in the caretaker's house, and together erected a greenhouse in |
17 | 2020, and a farmer's friend caterpillar tunnel in the winter of 2022 on a two acre plot, allowing |
18 | them to grow vegetables and hanging baskets; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Lauren and Zach named their farm Lucky Dogs Farm because they feel |

1 | lucky and blessed to live in such a beautiful place with their Australian Cattle Dog, Cleo; and |
2 | WHEREAS, The Bains offer their all-natural products in a variety of venues. They both |
3 | regularly attend the Farmer's Market where Zach sells meat produced by Border's Farm and |
4 | Lauren offers fresh flowers and vegetables; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Richmond Grange had the honor of preparing the dinner of Lauren's family |
6 | turkeys at the couple's wedding in 2019. In their free time, the Bains love to cross country ski |
7 | through the Border's Farm Fields, assemble legos, play board games, and watch Star Wars |
8 | movies. They are both active members of the Richmond Grange; now, therefore be it |
9 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island congratulates Lauren and |
10 | Zach Bain on being named the Richmond Grange #6 2022 "Agriculturalists of the Year"; and be |
11 | it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Lauren and Zach Bain. |
