RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES -- MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

     Referred To: Senate Finance

     WHEREAS, Pursuant to Chapter 8 of Title 40, "Medical Assistance", the Executive

Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) has the authority to set rates for Medicaid

services; and

     WHEREAS, To ensure better birth experience and postpartum care for Medicaid

members, the EOHHS needs to implement an increase for hospitals providing birth and

postpartum care; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That the EOHHS shall increase rates paid for labor and delivery services

by twenty percent (20%); and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ana Novais, Acting Secretary of the Executive

Office of Health and Human Services.
