S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

PROCLAIMING TUESDAY, MARCH 29, 2022, TO BE "DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES

AWARENESS DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, In Rhode Island, more than 4,000 individuals have developmental

2

disabilities; and

3

     WHEREAS, There are over 15,000 stakeholders who provide a range of services and

4

support systems for those with developmental disabilities in our state; and

5

     WHEREAS, For more than thirty years, Rhode Island has been a leader in providing and

6

advancing services for the developmentally disabled community; and

7

     WHEREAS, Individuals with developmental disabilities strive to be contributing

8

members of their community, including attaining employment; and

9

     WHEREAS, The establishment of March 29th, as Developmental Disabilities Awareness

10

Day has promoted the ongoing endeavor to educate the citizens of this state about the myriad

11

contributions made by those with developmental disabilities; now, therefore be it

12

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby proclaims March 29,

13

2022, as "Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day" in our State. We furthermore encourage all

14

our state's residents to join in recognizing the importance of this day; and be it further

15

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

16

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Tina Spears, MPA Executive Director of CPN-

17

RI.
