ICE HOCKEY TEAM ON WINNING THE RHODE ISLAND 2022 DIVISION I STATE | |

1 | WHEREAS, In the first round of the Rhode Island 2022 Girls Ice Hockey Tournament, |
2 | the Burrillville/Ponaganset/Bay View (BPBV) squad defeated the Narragansett/North |
3 | Kingstown/South Kingstown Co-op team two games to one to advance to the finals. In a hard- |
4 | fought series, BPBV won a tight contest in the decisive game by the score of 4-3; and |
5 | WHEREAS, In the finals, the BPBV squad faced a dominant La Salle team that had |
6 | compiled a perfect regular season record and had run roughshod over the competition recently, |
7 | winning three state championships in a row. Hardly anyone gave them a chance but the resilient |
8 | BPBV Team made history and stunned all observers as they defeated La Salle in a two game |
9 | sweep to win the Title. BPBV stunned the Rams in the first game, winning 2-1, and clinched the |
10 | title in the next game, winning in thrilling fashion by the score of 4-3 to secure the 2022 State |
11 | Championship; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Winning a State Championship in a team sport is an incredible |
13 | accomplishment, one that requires that every member of the team give one hundred percent at all |
14 | times and requires that all members put team goals and needs first, ahead of any individual |
15 | desires. The 2021-2022 Burriville/Ponaganset/Bay View Girls Ice Hockey Team had those |
16 | attributes in abundance as they were led all season by the important contributions provided by |
17 | team members Paige Almon, Sarah Andersen, Morgan Charette, Allie Trimble, Emily Allard, |
18 | Kristen Briggs, Kirstyn Smith, Isabelle Besser, Erin Gingell, Eden St. Pierre, Kayley Thibodeau, |
19 | Rachel Palmer, Kaitlyn Potter, Natalia Annicelli, Kelsey Wilson, Avery Moriarty, Faith Blais, |

1 | Sophia Kilduff, Grace Demers, Allie Stockwell, and Jenna Corrao. The team was also blessed to |
2 | have the outstanding leadership and coaching provided by Head Coach Cortney Lacey; now, |
3 | therefore be it |
4 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby congratulates the |
5 | Burrillville/Ponaganset/Bay View Co-op Girls Ice Hockey Team on winning the Rhode Island |
6 | Division I Girls Ice Hockey State Championship; and be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
8 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Burrillville/Ponaganset/Bay View Co-op |
9 | Girls Ice Hockey team Head Coach, Cortney Lacey. |
