EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE PAUL

J. HARVEY

     WHEREAS, It is with sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Paul J.

2

Harvey, the beloved husband of Patricia Harvey for fifty-eight years, the devoted father of

3

Kathleen Raposa and her husband, Edward, Beth Dicomitis and her husband, Christopher, and

4

Paul Joseph Harvey and his wife, Eileen, and the very proud and loving "Papa" of Ashlee,

5

Courtnee, Joseph, Meaghan and Alexa; and

6

     WHEREAS, Born in the City of Providence, Mr. Harvey was a son of the late Florence

7

Joseph and Rita Harvey, the brother of Ralph Harvey and the late Joseph Harvey, and the uncle of

8

Kimberly Dougherty. He graduated from Warren High School in the 1950s and had been one of

9

the school's best athletes, earning eleven of twelve possible varsity letters; and

10

     WHEREAS, Mr. Harvey had particularly loved and excelled at football and upon

11

graduation, played on the Rhode Island Semi-Pro Football Champions Grande Club. He

12

subsequently served our country with honor in the United States Army and was a member of the

13

Second Army team that captured the Alaska Service Championship; and

14

     WHEREAS, Upon his return from the service, Mr. Harvey was a member of the Warren

15

Police Department for five years, and later was employed as a lineman for thirty-two years with

16

Narragansett Electric, retiring in 1997; and

17

     WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community and the Town of Warren, Mr. Harvey also

18

served on the Warren Town Council for sixteen years, and was an avid racquetball player at the

19

Barrington YMCA and Playoffs during his years working at Narragansett Electric; and

     WHEREAS, Upon retirement, Mr. Harvey and his wife enjoyed traveling and making

2

homes in both Rhode Island and The Villages in Florida, where he began playing Pickleball,

3

which soon became a favorite activity along with golf. In addition, Mr. Harvey was a

4

communicant of St. Mary of the Bay Church in Warren, serving as an usher for many years and

5

volunteering for numerous church gatherings and events; and

6

     WHEREAS, Paul Harvey was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a well-

7

respected community leader who will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it

8

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends deepest

9

condolences on the passing of the Honorable Paul J. Harvey; and be it further

10

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

11

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Patricia Harvey and Family.
