EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF DAVID R. NARODOWY | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Mr. |
2 | David Narodowy, the beloved husband of Rachel Narodowy for more than sixty-four years; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Mr. Narodowy was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Russell |
4 | and Nora Narodowy. He served our nation with distinction as a member of the United States |
5 | Army during the Korean War; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Mr. Narodowy graduated from the Northeast School of Broadcasting and |
7 | then proceeded to work for the former WWON and the Palmers (now WOON) where he was the |
8 | "voice of Woonsocket" for thirty years. While at WWON, he had founded the "Coffee AN" show, |
9 | and the "Sounds of Sinatra" show which was a weekly hour dedicated to his favorite singer; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Mr. Narodowy met his wife, Rachel, at Kappa Beta Gamma on Main Street |
11 | in Woonsocket and together they later owned the Village Haven Restaurant beginning in 1977. |
12 | After his tenure at the WWON radio station, Mr. Narodowy worked at RIARC as the Public |
13 | Relations Director, and later became the co-founder of the Rhode Island Chapter of MADD, |
14 | where he served thirteen years as its Executive Director. He also served as Past President of the |
15 | Woonsocket Rotary Club; and |
16 | WHEREAS, In his free time, Mr. Narodowy enjoyed travelling to Aruba with his wife, |
17 | playing golf and softball, watching sports, especially his beloved New York Yankees, and doing |
18 | crossword puzzles. He was superb at speaking before groups and always knew the right thing to |
19 | say, be it a MADD Candlelight Vigil, a wake, or giving the Thanksgiving blessing for his family. |
20 | He was a man of deep faith, and a communicant and CCD educator at St. John the Evangelist |

2 | WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Rachel, Mr. Narodowy leaves behind his children, |
3 | Wayne Narodowy and his wife, Gail, Neil Narodowy and his wife, Donna, Glenn Narodowy and |
4 | his partner, Kristin DeCataldo, Gary Narodowy and his wife, Louise, Dean Narodowy and his |
5 | wife, Sue, Donna Mowry and her husband, Jeff, and Audrey Crozier and her husband, Jasen. Mr. |
6 | Narodowy also leaves behind his sisters, Rita Sperrazza and Nancy LaBarre, and thirteen |
7 | grandchildren, Megan, Alexander and his wife, Brianna, Nicholas, Laura, Connor, BriAnna, |
8 | Abbey, Ellyn, Dylan, Riley, Alyssa, Sadie, and Jack. He was also the brother of the late Eileen |
9 | Von Sprecken; now, therefore be it |
10 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest |
11 | condolences on the passing of David R. Narodowy; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Rachel Narodowy and Family. |
