EXPRESSING ITS DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MOLLY FALCONER | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the Senate has learned of the untimely passing |
2 | of Molly Falconer de Ramel, the beloved wife of Guillaume Henry de Ramel; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Molly Falconer de Ramel was born in Washington, DC, the oldest child of |
4 | Allan Ackerman of Chicago and Abigail King, AIA, of Jamestown, Rhode Island. Ms. Falconer |
5 | de Ramel grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts, and attended Shady High School in Cambridge, |
6 | Massachusetts, where she excelled in both academics and athletics. In high school, she was the |
7 | Captain of the squash team, was the Massachusetts State Champion and ranked top ten nationally |
8 | in Extemporaneous Speech, and was the first woman to be the Editor of the Milton Paper; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Ms. Falconer de Ramel proceeded to attend Harvard where she graduated |
10 | Magna Cum Laude and was a John Harvard scholar. Upon graduation, she embarked on a |
11 | prestigious television broadcasting career. She initially excelled at the smaller cable stations and |
12 | drew the attention of the large, national networks, where she proceeded to make her mark as an |
13 | anchor and reporter in the New York City market for several years, the biggest media market in |
14 | the nation. In recognition of her insightful and poignant reporting of the 9/11 tragedy, she was |
15 | honored with an Emmy Award; and |
16 | WHEREAS, After meeting and marrying the love of her life, Guillaume, Molly moved |
17 | with him to start a family and begin a new career journey. She accepted a position to head Brown |
18 | University’s media relations department before she decided to found and lead Periwinkle |
19 | Worldwide, a leading executive coaching firm. Within the business world, Molly soon became a |

1 | trusted advisor, highly sought-after-coach, and teacher of leadership skills and practices to |
2 | numerous executives, many of whom lead organizations that are household names throughout the |
3 | globe; and |
4 | WHEREAS, Molly had a special knack for translating the essence of a book to a child or |
5 | client. She played a significant role in her husband Guillaume’s political career, providing |
6 | insightful advice and crisp and concise editing. A childhood friend said of Molly, “She had |
7 | complete clarity in her understanding of people, places and of complex relationships. This made |
8 | her a sharp and successful journalist and a savvy businesswoman”; and |
9 | WHEREAS, Molly devoted much of her free time in service to important charities and |
10 | cultural institutions. She served as a Director or Trustee of the Redwood Library, St. Michaels |
11 | Country Day School, the Boys & Girls Club, RhodySquash, and the Belmont Foundation. She |
12 | was deeply interested her entire life in literature, history, education, and helping disadvantaged |
13 | children; and |
14 | WHEREAS, The most important things in Molly’s life was her family. She was a loving, |
15 | devoted and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. The shining light of excellence and |
16 | compassion she left behind will be long remembered by her family and many friends; now, |
17 | therefore be it |
18 | RESOLVED, Molly Falconer de Ramel leaves behind her husband, Guillaume, and her |
19 | children Charles and Elizabeth. She also leaves behind her mother, Abigail, her father and |
20 | stepmother, Allan and Martha, her mother-in-law Elizabeth Prince, and her brother, Samuel |
21 | Ackerman, and his wife Jaqueline Lagrange Ackerman, and their two children, Autumn Alethe |
22 | Ackerman and Samuel John Ackerman; and, be it further |
23 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest |
24 | condolences to the Falconer de Ramel family on the passing of Molly Falconer de Ramel; and be |
25 | it further |
26 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
27 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Guillaume Henri de Ramel and Family. |
