HONORING SENATOR GAYLE L. GOLDIN FOR HER SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF | |
THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, In November of 2012, Gayle L. Goldin was elected to the Rhode Island |
2 | State Senate representing District 3 which encompasses neighborhoods in the City of Providence. |
3 | Over the ensuing eight and a half years, she diligently served her constituents and the State of |
4 | Rhode Island with distinction, integrity, and grace; and |
5 | WHEREAS, A well-respected member of the of the Senate, the Honorable Gayle Goldin |
6 | has served as a member of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services and a member of |
7 | the Senate Committee on Labor; and |
8 | WHEREAS, As a strong proponent of family and women's rights, Senator Goldin |
9 | championed the passage of Temporary Caregiver Insurance, was lead sponsor of the |
10 | Reproductive Health Care Act, and advocated for legislation to strengthen sexual harassment |
11 | protections, ensure pay equity, improve access to child care, and ensure that pregnant teenagers |
12 | can consent to their own medical care; and |
13 | WHEREAS, In addition, Senator Goldin has led efforts to expand the earned income tax |
14 | credit, increase the tipped minimum wage, protect student journalists’ freedom of speech, ban |
15 | high capacity magazines, and create automatic voter and electronic registration; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure at the State House, Senator Goldin has been |
17 | recognized and honored for her accomplishments with numerous awards, including a |
18 | Congressional Angels in Adoption Award, the 2014 Bell of Hope Award from the Mental Health |
19 | Association of Rhode Island, 2014 Rhode Island Parent Information Network (RIPIN) Legislator |

1 | of the Year Award, Capital Caregiver from AARP, and Isabel Ahearn O’Neill Award from the |
2 | YWCA of Rhode Island; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Gayle Goldin is a graduate of McGill University where she attained her |
4 | Bachelor's degree in English Literature and continued her education, earning a Master’s degree in |
5 | Public Policy from Tufts University. She is the wife of Jeff Levy and the mother of two children |
6 | and has been employed as a campaign advisor to Family Values @ Work; now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby thanks the Honorable |
8 | Gayle Goldin for her efforts on behalf of the people of our State and congratulates her on her |
9 | appointment as senior adviser in the U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau with the Biden |
10 | administration. We can think of no one who is more deserving, and wish her a productive and |
11 | successful future and the very best health and happiness in all her endeavors; and be it further |
12 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
13 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Gayle L. Goldin. |
