EXPRESSING SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING OF MARGARET A. PERROTTO

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of

2

Margaret A. Perrotto, the beloved wife of the retired chief of the Warren Police Department,

3

Thomas Perrotto, and the cherished mother of Todd Santos and his wife, Emily, Michelle

4

Sullivan and her husband, Thomas, and Chandelle Ostiguy and her husband, Joseph; and

5

     WHEREAS, "Peggie" as she was affectionately known, was a daughter of Edward and

6

Eva Almeida, and the sister of Edward Almeida, Jr. and his wife, Joanne, Judith Clancy and her

7

husband, Michael, and Jane Sousa and her husband, Joseph. In addition, she was the loving aunt

8

of two nephews, Matthew Sousa and Michael Clancy, Jr., two nieces, Dena Almeida Heavin and

9

Kristeen Almeida Richardson, and beloved by her five great-nephews; and

10

     WHEREAS, A graduate of Warren High School, Mrs. Perrotto earned her Bachelor's

11

degree from Salve Regina College, and for almost four decades, was a teacher and mentor to

12

students at St. Luke’s in Barrington, where she had taught for seventeen years, and in the

13

Bristol/Warren school system, where she taught for twenty-eight years. Respected and beloved

14

by all, she had been voted teacher of the year twice and "loved and remembered all of her

15

students"; and

16

     WHEREAS, Peggie Perotto created a home that was warm and welcoming to all and

17

particularly her nine grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Muriel, Leo, Stella, Bianca, Charlotte,

18

Jessica and Joseph, whom she adored; and

19

     WHEREAS, In addition to making a wonderful home for her family and teaching, Mrs.

20

Perotto was devoted to her faith and was wholeheartedly patriotic. For many years she had been

very involved with Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol and had "loved the Fourth of July and

2

all that it represented." She also enjoyed sailing, skiing, running, biking, walking and myriad

3

additional outdoor activities, and was a member of several yacht clubs, including the Bristol

4

Yacht Club for almost fifty years, where she had served as its secretary for thirty years, and the

5

Marathon Yacht Club in Florida; and

6

     WHEREAS, Peggie Perrotto was a truly beautiful person with a heart of gold and she

7

will be dearly missed and always remembered; now, therefore be it

8

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

9

extends deepest condolences on the passing of Margaret A. Perrotto; and be it further

10

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

11

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Thomas B. Perrotto and Family.
