	AND DISCIPLINE

	It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
1	SECTION 1. Section 5-37-8 of the General Laws in Chapter 5-37 entitled "Board of
2	Medical Licensure and Discipline" is hereby amended to read as follows:
3	5-37-8. Grounds for discipline without hearing.
4	The director may temporarily suspend the license of a physician or limited registrant
5	without a hearing if the director finds that evidence in his or her possession indicates that a
6	physician's or limited registrant's continuation in practice would constitute an immediate danger to
7	the public. In the event that the director temporarily suspends the license of a physician or limited
8	registrant without a hearing, a hearing by the board must be held within ten (10) days after the day
9	the suspension has occurred. In the event the tenth day occurs on a Saturday, Sunday or legal state
10	holiday, the hearing by the board shall be held on the first business day following the Saturday,
11	Sunday or legal state holiday.
12	SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

1	This act would provide that in the event the last day for hearing by the board of medical
2	licensure and discipline falls on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, the hearing would be held on
3	the first business day thereafter for the suspension of a physician or limited registrant's license.
4	This act would take effect upon passage.
