RELATING TO MOTOR AND OTHER VEHICLES -- REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 31-3 of the General Laws entitled "Registration of Vehicles" is |
2 | hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 31-3-53.1. Military honors decals. |
4 | (a)(1) The division of motor vehicles is empowered to make available decals indicating |
5 | that the applicant is a recipient of the following military honor: |
6 | (i) Congressional Medal of Honor; |
7 | (ii) Distinguished Flying Cross; |
8 | (iii) Navy/Army/Air Force Cross; |
9 | (iv) Silver Star medal; and |
10 | (v) Bronze Star medal. |
11 | (2) When making the request for such a decal, the applicant shall submit to the division of |
12 | motor vehicles a copy of the military order or a DD-214 documenting issuance of the honor. |
13 | (b) The decals issued pursuant to subsection (a) of this section and subsection (b) of § 31- |
14 | 3-53 may be affixed on the following plates in a location that does not obscure the preprinted plate |
15 | contents: |
16 | (1) Disabled veteran plates issued pursuant to § 31-6-8; |
17 | (2) Ex-P.O.W plates issued pursuant to § 31-3-46; |
18 | (3) Purple Heart plates issued pursuant to § 31-3-48; |
19 | (4) Veteran plates issued pursuant to § 31-3-53; |

1 | (5) National Guard plates issued pursuant to § 31-3-62; and |
2 | (6) Gold Star Family plates issued pursuant to § 31-3-111. |
3 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
