H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING PATRICIA REDFEARN ON HER RETIREMENT AFTER MORE THAN

EIGHTEEN YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS THE DIRECTOR OF THE GEORGE

HAIL FREE LIBRARY OF WARREN

     WHEREAS, Patricia Redfearn is retiring from her position as the Director of the George

2

Hail Free Library after more than eighteen exemplary years of service to the citizens of Warren.

3

She has worked tirelessly to promote Warren’s rich historical heritage and always took great

4

pleasure in availing herself of Warren’s many wonderful amenities, from the Town’s great bike

5

paths and excellent music scene to the delectable culinary delights the Town offers in its many

6

great restaurants; and

7

     WHEREAS, Patricia Redfearn had previously worked at the George Hail Free Library in

8

1984 and 1985, as a part-time circulation assistant. In 2002, she applied for the position of

9

Director, and to her surprise, and the good fortune of the residents of Warren, she was chosen for

10

the position; and

11

     WHEREAS, During her tenure as Director, Ms. Redfearn has overseen numerous

12

improvements. After receiving a Providence Foundation grant in 2008 and 2009, the Library used

13

the funds to hire an archivist who was able to locate and catalogue important historical documents

14

that were stored at numerous locations throughout the town; and

15

     WHEREAS, In addition, Ms. Redfearn is proud of the work she and her staff put into

16

promoting the Charles Whipple Greene Museum, which is located within the Library and is a

17

wonderful celebration of the Town of Warren’s history. It also serves as great education resource,

18

drawing in children from field trips and showing them the many historical artifacts located within

19

the museum; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Redfearn may be officially retiring but she still plans on being active in

2

numerous activities. She hopes to spend more time reading and investigating her family’s

3

genealogy. She also plans on spending more time in support of the historical groups in the Town

4

of Swansea, her place of residency. She hopes to assist and support the Swansea Historical

5

Society and the Town Committee searching for funding to add an addition to the town library;

now, therefore be it

7

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

8

congratulates Ms. Patricia Redfearn on her retirement as the Director of the George Hail Free

9

Library of Warren after more than eighteen years of distinguished and devoted service. We wish

10

her good health and continued success in all of her future endeavors; and be it further

11

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

12

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Patricia Redfearn.
