EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING OF CHRISTINA A. MCKIERNAN

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House learned of the unexpected passing of

2

Christina A. McKiernan, the beloved wife of thirty years to our friend and former colleague, the

3

Honorable Daniel McKiernan, Esquire, and the loving mother of Thomas and Bridget

4

McKiernan; and

5

     WHEREAS, Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, Mrs. McKiernan was a cherished

6

daughter of David and Janina Lynch, and the sister of Elizabeth Quirk. She also leaves behind

7

many nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law, whom she dearly loved; and

8

     WHEREAS, Mrs. McKiernan spent her youth in Massachusetts and attended Boston

9

College where she met the love of her life and future husband, Dan. After graduating magna cum

10

laude with a degree in mathematics, she became a certified math teacher and taught in numerous

11

communities including Providence, Warwick and Exeter; and

12

     WHEREAS, In addition to her family, Mrs. McKiernan was devoted to her faith and a

13

regular communicant of Saint Pius V Church. She also volunteered as a tutor and as an assistant

14

at local schools, and treasured Rhode Island’s beautiful shoreline; and

15

     WHEREAS, Christina McKiernan was smart, kind, and truly beautiful inside and out.

16

She will always be in the hearts and memories of all who knew her and she is deeply missed;

17

now, therefore be it

18

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

19

offers heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and friends of Christina A. McKiernan, and

20

hope that their sadness will be replaced by warm memories to comfort them in the days ahead;

and be it further

2

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

3

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Daniel McKiernan, Esquire, and

4

Family.
