EXTENDING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE RAYMOND J. | |

1 | WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of our |
2 | former colleague, the Honorable Raymond J. Gallogly. He was the beloved husband of the late |
3 | Maureen Gallogly for forty-six years, father of Raymond Gallogly and his wife, Michaela, and |
4 | Meg and her husband, Tim Riordan, and the very proud "Papa" to Patrick, Ryan and Kiera |
5 | Gallogly, and Jack and Liam Riordan; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Ray Gallogly grew up in South Providence, the |
7 | youngest of nine children born to the late Lawrence and Rose Gallogly. He was the brother of the |
8 | late Mary Hackman, Rosella McLaughlin, Sister M. Rosellen Gallogly, RSM, the Honorable |
9 | Edward Gallogly, Chief Justice RI Family Court, Lawrence Gallogly, William Gallogly, Thomas |
10 | Gallogly and Vincent Gallogly. He was also the brother-in-law of Ann Gallogly, and the uncle to |
11 | many nieces and nephews; and |
12 | WHEREAS, For more than five decades, Mr. Gallogly had made his home in the City of |
13 | Warwick. He was a proud graduate of LaSalle Academy, earned his Bachelor's degree from |
14 | Providence College, and had served our country with honor in the United States Army during the |
15 | Korean War; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Upon returning from the service, Mr. Gallogly married the love of his life, |
17 | Maureen, and began a lifetime career of helping others. For seventeen years, he led Rhode |
18 | Island's Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), and volunteered for numerous state and local |
19 | campaigns. He was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives, serving his constituents |

1 | in District 32 for eight years, and was employed at the Rhode Island Superior Court for twenty |
2 | years, retiring as State Jury Commissioner. In addition, he had served on the Warwick tax |
3 | assessment board after retiring and was a long-time member of the Rhode Island Democratic |
4 | Committee; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Always active in the community, Mr. Gallogly was a faithful communicant |
6 | of St. William Church, where he had served on the church council and finance committee and |
7 | was a Eucharistic minister; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Mr. Gallogly was also very active in youth sports, volunteering with the |
9 | Warwick West Side Little League, where he served as a baseball and softball coach as well as on |
10 | the league's Board of Directors. He took great joy in watching sports and rooting for his children, |
11 | grandchildren and many grandnieces and grandnephews, often traveling around the state to catch |
12 | their games, and once he retired, he took up golf, pursuing every opportunity to play 18 holes |
13 | with family and friends; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Ray was blessed with a full and rewarding life surrounded by family and |
15 | friends who loved him dearly and will always remember his wonderful sense of humor, his |
16 | storytelling, and "the Irish twinkle in his eyes"; now, therefore be it |
17 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
18 | extends deepest condolences on the passing of the Honorable Raymond J. Gallogly; and be it |
19 | further |
20 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
21 | transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Raymond Gallogly and Family, and Meg |
22 | Riordan and Family. |
