S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

EXTENDING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF LEO LARIVEE, PAST

GRAND KNIGHT (PGK) AND PAST FAITHFUL NAVIGATOR (PFN) KNIGHTS OF

COLUMBUS SULLIVAN COUNCIL

     WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Leo

2

Larivee, beloved husband of Diane Larivee for forty-six years, the cherished father of Laura

3

Lafreniere, Linda and Michael Benoit, Lee-Ann and Michael Bruhn, Lisa and David Jencks, and

4

Leslie and Jeffrey Towle, and the very proud grandfather of thirteen grandchildren, and six great

5

grandchildren; and

6

     WHEREAS, Born and raised in the City of Central Falls, Mr. Larivee was a son of the

7

late Joseph and Aurore Larivee, and the brother of Joseph "Raymond" Larivee, Roger Larivee

8

and Robert Larivee, and the late Virginia "Lillian" Richard, Theresa Turcotte, Norman and Girard

9

Larivee, his son-in law, Richard Lafreniere, and a great-granddaughter, Catheryn Larivee Benoit;

10

and

11

     WHEREAS, Mr. Larivee was employed in the construction business for many years and

12

later worked for a medical supply company. He was a member of the Saint Vincent De Paul

13

Society, and dedicated to the Knights of Columbus Sullivan Council #2700 of Central Falls

14

where he had been a Past Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator, and President of the Casey Club

15

as well as many additional roles; and

16

     WHEREAS, Although Mr. Larivee resided in the Town of Cumberland, his heart and

17

time were devoted to the City of Central Falls and to lending a hand to assist others through life's

18

adversities. Described as a pillar of the community and "a kind human being with the spirit of

19

always helping and never saying no, no matter the circumstances" he had opened up the Knights

of Columbus for community residents to take shelter during the City's devastating mill fires and

2

volunteered with food distribution and vaccine clinics during COVID's rampage of the City; and

3

     WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Larivee had been a part of many City meetings,

4

registrations, and efforts to provide donations to the CF Baseball League, as well as supporting

5

the Community Thanksgiving Dinner and Holiday Express, to name but a few of his altruistic

6

endeavors; and

7

     WHEREAS, Leo Larivee was a loving family man, a friend to many, a benevolent

8

benefactor to the Central Falls community, and a kind and generous soul who will be dearly

9

missed by all who had the good fortune to have been part of his extraordinary life; now, therefore

10

be it

11

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses deepest

12

sympathy to the family and friends of Leo Larivee; and be it further

13

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

14

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Diane Larivee and Family.
