S E N A T E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING THE WEST WARWICK HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

TEAM ON WINNING THE RHODE ISLAND GIRLS VOLLEYBALL DIVISION II

CHAMPIONSHIP

     WHEREAS, The West Warwick Wizards Girls Volleyball Team entered the 2020-2021

season determined to avenge their heartbreaking playoff loss in the prior volleyball season and to

honor the memory of their 2019 teammate, Hannah Cyr, who tragically passed away in December

of 2020; and

     WHEREAS, The Wizards entered the playoffs after an outstanding regular season in

which they finished in first place in the Division 2 West Volleyball standings and compiled a

sterling overall record of 9-2; and

     WHEREAS, Seeded first in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League, the Wizards

stormed through the playoffs, easily dispatching Pilgrim, Exeter-West Greenwich, and Classical

in the finals, all in three-set sweeps; and

     WHEREAS, Winning a State Championship in any sport requires that every player

always gives one-hundred percent and places team goals and needs ahead of individual

aspirations. The West Warwick Wizards Girls Volleyball Team had these qualities in abundance

as they were led all season by the outstanding play provided by Valeria Alvarez, Brea Alves,

Victoria Bird, Abigail Camara, Kaylee Crowley, Mae D’Ambra, Olivia Field, Amanda Fielder,

Kalen Greenhalgh, Alana Laramee, Amaya Louro, Aliyah Naseer, Teagan Pacheco, and

Samantha Strain. The Wizards were also led all season by the outstanding coaching and

leadership provided by Head Coach Josh Malloy and Assistant Coach Dan Perry; now, therefore

be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby congratulates the West

Warwick High School Girls Volleyball Team on winning the Rhode Island Division II Girls State

Championship; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Josh Malloy, Head Coach, West Warwick

Girls Volleyball Team.
