CONGRATULATING DOREEN STANLEY ON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE STATE OF

RHODE ISLAND AFTER THIRTY-FIVE YEARS OF EXTRAORDINARY SERVICE

     WHEREAS, Doreen Stanley worked for more than three decades in public service as the

2

heart and soul of the Bachelor of Social Work Program (BSW) at Rhode Island College; and

3

     WHEREAS, Ms. Stanley provided compassionate, student-centered service to Rhode

4

Island College students and faculty; and

5

     WHEREAS, Among her many responsibilities, Doreen Stanley served as an academic

6

advisor, crisis counselor, teaching assistant, and was a well of support and encouragement; and

7

     WHEREAS, Doreen Stanley worked tirelessly to build a more inclusive, anti-racist,

8

affirming climate for students, staff, and faculty; and

9

     WHEREAS, Ms. Stanley brought immense enthusiasm to her job duties and always

10

responded with vigor when her name was called, a trait admired by all of her colleagues; and

11

     WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Doreen Stanley earned the utmost respect of

12

students, faculty, and staff across the School of Social Work; and

13

     WHEREAS, Students repeatedly identified Doreen Stanley as the best part of the BSW

14

program at Rhode Island College; and

15

     WHEREAS Doreen Stanley’s contributions as a thoughtful, caring, kind, detail-oriented,

16

dedicated, and generous person are unparalleled; and

17

     WHEREAS, Doreen Stanley will be greatly missed by faculty, students, and staff at the

18

Rhode Island School of Social Work; now, therefore be it

19

     RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends its deepest

appreciation for the outstanding contributions made by Doreen Stanley during her 35 years of

2

state service and extends its best wishes as she begins her well-earned retirement; and be it further

3

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

4

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Doreen Stanley.
