RELATING TO INSURANCE -- HEALTH CARE FOR CHILDREN AND PREGNANT | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 42-12.3 of the General Laws entitled "Health Care for Children and |
2 | Pregnant Women" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 42-12.3-17. Healthy pregnancy program. |
4 | Pregnant women with an annual family income above the applicable Medicaid income |
5 | limit and less than or equal to four (4) times the federal poverty level shall be eligible to purchase |
6 | health insurance coverage through one of the Medicaid managed care plans. The program shall be |
7 | jointly administered by the executive office of health and human services and HealthSource RI and |
8 | shall ensure clear and transparent procedures that include: |
9 | (1) An expedited process to determine eligibility to allow for timely enrollment; |
10 | (2) Ease of payment; and |
11 | (3) Prompt transfer from the healthy pregnancy program to other available health insurance |
12 | options upon birth of the baby. |
13 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect on January 1, 2022. |
