RELATING TO FOOD AND DRUGS -- RHODE ISLAND FOOD, DRUGS, AND

COSMETICS ACT

     

     Introduced By: Senators Cano, Kallman, Euer, Acosta, Valverde, DiPalma, Murray, and
Quezada

     Date Introduced: January 19, 2021

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 21-31 of the General Laws entitled "Rhode Island Food, Drugs, and

Cosmetics Act" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     21-31-25. Fee limit on third-party food delivery services.

     During a state of emergency declared by the governor of the state of Rhode Island pursuant

5

to chapter 15 of title 30 and for a period of ninety (90) days after the end of the declared state of

6

emergency, the maximum delivery fee to be charged by a third-party food delivery service shall be

7

fifteen percent (15%).

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

EXPLANATION

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

     This act would limit the amount of fees charged by a third-party food delivery service to

fifteen percent (15%) during a declared state of emergency and for ninety (90) days after the end

of the declared emergency.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
