It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 39-18 of the General Laws entitled "Rhode Island Public Transit |
2 | Authority" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following sections: |
3 | 39-18-25. Limitations of damages. |
4 | In any tort action against the authority, its members and/or its employees acting in their |
5 | official capacity, any damages recovered therein shall not exceed the sum of one hundred thousand |
6 | dollars ($100,000). |
7 | 39-18-26. Damages in excess of limitation. |
8 | The general assembly may, by special act, authorize actions of tort against the authority, |
9 | its members and/or its employees acting in their official capacity, in particular cases in which the |
10 | amount of damages to be recovered may exceed one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000). |
11 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
