RHODE ISLAND STATE SENATE AFTER TEN YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED AND | |
EXEMPLARY SERVICE | |

1 | WHEREAS, Senator Donna Nesselbush is a graduate of Brown University, where she |
2 | attained a Bachelor’s degree, and Suffolk University, where she attain a Juris Doctor. She is |
3 | fluent in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, and is a founding partner of the law firm of Marasco & |
4 | Nesselbush, L.L.P.; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Senator Nesselbush was elected to the Rhode Island Senate in 2010, and |
6 | since taking office, has vigorously fought on behalf of the disadvantaged in life. She has been a |
7 | tireless and eloquent supporter of marriage equality, civil rights, disabled rights, and in support of |
8 | our civil liberties and rights. She has also worked diligently to stiffen Rhode Island’s domestic |
9 | violence laws and penalties; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Senator Nesselbush serves as the Chief Judge of the Pawtucket Municipal |
11 | Court. She also serves as Chair of the Rhode Island Bar Association’s Social Security Disability |
12 | Committee, is a member of the American and Rhode Island Associations for Justice, and was the |
13 | former Executive Director of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence, past |
14 | President of Progresso Latino, and a former Board Member of the American Civil Liberties |
15 | Union; and |
16 | WHEREAS, Senator Nesselbush has received numerous awards in recognition of her |
17 | distinguished public service career including the Appreciation Award from Crossroads Rhode |
18 | Island, the Appreciation Award from the Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless, the Leo J. |
19 | Wyman Award from Suffolk University, and the Sarah Doyle Prize from Brown University. |

1 | Senator Nesselbush’s passionate advocacy and tireless work ethic will be sorely missed; now, |
2 | therefore be it |
3 | RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby honors Senator Donna |
4 | M. Nesselbush on her retirement from the Rhode Island State Senate after ten years of |
5 | distinguished and exemplary service; and be it further |
6 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
7 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Donna M. Nesselbush. |
