H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING AND THANKING ELIZABETH BRITO FOR HER DECADES OF TIRELESS

AND DEVOTED PUBLIC SERVICE TO THE ROGERS FREE LIBRARY AND THE

BRISTOL COMMUNITY

     WHEREAS, Elizabeth Brito, longtime Trustee and Past President of the Rogers Free

Library Trustees, is stepping down after thirty years of tireless and distinguished service to the

Library and the Bristol community. Thanks to her leadership and guidance, the Rogers Free

Library Trustees developed a capital campaign that supported the building of the new library, and

the establishment of the Endowment of the Friends of the Rogers Free Library, which has grown

rapidly and has helped fund important programming, capital expenses, and other important needs

of the library and the Bristol community; and

     WHEREAS, Elizabeth Brito has also served her beloved Bristol community in a myriad

of other ways. She taught English in the Bristol Public School System for twenty-eight years,

completing her exemplary teaching career as Chairwoman of the Mount Hope High School

English Department. Ms. Brito also has been an active volunteer for the Junior League of Rhode

Island and Linden Place, and had the high honor of serving as Chief Marshal of the 2011 Bristol

Fourth of July Parade; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

thanks and honors Elizabeth Brito for her decades of tireless and devoted public service to the

Rogers Free Library and the Bristol community. We wish her health, happiness, and continued

success in all of her future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Elizabeth Brito.
