H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

THANKING THE HONORABLE KATE WEYMOUTH FOR HER SIXTEEN YEARS OF

EXEMPLARY AND HONORABLE PUBLIC SERVICE ON THE BARRINGTON TOWN

COUNCIL

     WHEREAS, The Honorable Kate Weymouth, a distinguished public servant and a

woman of great integrity, is retiring from the Barrington Town Council after sixteen years of

meritorious service; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Weymouth was first elected to the Barrington Town Council in 2004,

was re-elected three times, and currently serves as the Vice President of the Council. Thanks to

her guidance and leadership, Barrington hired its first full time town planner, established the

Barrington Community Garden, and she played an instrumental role in Barrington's adoption of

the State’s first municipal plastic bag ban; and

     WHEREAS, Ms. Weymouth is the proud mother of two sons, and plans on staying active

in civic affairs on both the local and state levels. Her presence on the Barrington Town Council

will be sorely missed by all of her colleagues and constituents; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

thanks Councilwoman Kate Weymouth for her sixteen years of exemplary and honorable service

on the Barrington Town Council. We wish her continued good health, happiness and continued

success in all of her future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Kate Weymouth.
