HONORING REPRESENTATIVE MOIRA J. WALSH FOR HER SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE | |
OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, In November of 2016, the Honorable Moira Walsh was elected to the Rhode |
2 | Island House of Representatives from District 3, which encompasses neighborhoods in the City of |
3 | Providence. Over the ensuing four years, she has served her constituents and the State of Rhode |
4 | Island with distinction, energy, and determination; and |
5 | WHEREAS, During her tenure in the General Assembly, Representative Walsh has been |
6 | a member of the House Committee on Environment and Natural Resources; and |
7 | WHEREAS, As an outspoken advocate and resolute voice for members of the working |
8 | class, Representative Walsh assisted in reforming the state's tipped minimum wage law which |
9 | ultimately led to its first increase in nearly two decades; and |
10 | WHEREAS, In addition, Representative Walsh sponsored legislation reinstating no-fare |
11 | bus passes for low-income elderly and disabled Rhode Islanders, and has worked diligently on |
12 | addressing poverty, preventing opioid overdose deaths, advancing equality, and promoting health |
13 | care for all; and |
14 | WHEREAS, Representative Moira Walsh graduated from Classical High School in |
15 | Providence and attended Rhode Island College and the Community College of Rhode Island. She |
16 | is the very proud mother of Malcolm Caminero; and |
17 | WHEREAS, F. Scott Fitzgerald wisely stated, "never confuse a single defeat with a final |
18 | defeat" and so it is with certainty that Representative Walsh will rise and continue to represent |
19 | and support the hard-working people of our state; now, therefore be it |

1 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
2 | honors Representative Moira Walsh as she concludes her service in the Rhode Island General |
3 | Assembly. We moreover extend our wishes for her continued health and happiness; and be it |
4 | further |
5 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
6 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Moira J. Walsh. |
