H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING REPRESENTATIVE JOSE R. SERODIO FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE

OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, Representative Serodio is a graduate of East Providence High School and is

employed as the President and General Partner of America Travel. He makes his home in the

City of East Providence with his wife, Ana; and

     WHEREAS, Elected in November of 2018, the Honorable Jose Serodio has served with

honor in the Rhode Island House of Representatives, District 64, for the past two years,

representing the citizens of the City of East Providence. He is a member of the House Committee

on Health, Education and Welfare, the House Committee on Corporations, and the House

Committee on Small Business; and

     WHEREAS, During his tenure in the House, Representative Serodio has been

instrumental in sponsoring and supporting numerous pieces of legislation including bills to

protect seniors and qualified disabled adults from financial exploitation, and an act that requires

private and public schools to provide and maintain opioid antagonists (Narcan) on-site. In

addition, he sponsored legislation that would provide an income tax credit to senior taxpayers

who pay a water or sewer bill on their primary residence; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Serodio's civic and community involvement includes

membership in numerous local and professional groups including, the Holy Ghost Beneficial

Brotherhood and the Holy Ghost Brotherhood of Charity in East Providence, and founding

member of the East Providence Soccer Club. Proud of his Portuguese heritage, he is a past

President of the East Providence Portuguese School, and a past board member of the Portuguese-

American Scholarship Foundation and the Portuguese American Business Association; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Serodio's devotion to the citizens of the Ocean State has

earned him our unqualified admiration and respect, and he will assuredly be missed; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

honors and thanks Representative Jose Serodio for his dedicated service enriching the quality of

life for all the citizens of Rhode Island. We wish him the very best health, happiness, and success

in all his future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Jose R. Serodio.
