H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING REPRESENTATIVE MARIO F. MENDEZ FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE

PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, Mario F. Mendez is a graduate of Providence Public Schools and earned his

Bachelor’s degree from Rhode Island College. He currently makes his home in the Town of

Johnston; and

     WHEREAS, In November of 2018, Representative Mendez was elected to the Rhode

Island General Assembly, serving the people of District 13, which encompasses portions of the

City of Providence and the Town of Johnston; and

     WHEREAS, During his first year in the House, Representative Mendez earned a coveted

seat on the House Committee on Finance, which entails countless hours of hearings and

deliberations on the state budget. In addition, he serves as a member of the House Committee on

Corporations; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Mendez has served with determination and true dedication to

his constituency. During his freshman year, he introduced essential legislation allowing licensed

public dental hygienists to conduct dental screenings in schools. He also introduced a bill on

education reform that would assist schools in the hiring of additional STEM-specialized teachers,

and cosponsored a new law that would create threat assessment teams in public schools in order

to help prevent violence; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Mendez's tireless devotion to the citizens of the Ocean State

have earned him our unqualified admiration and respect, and he will assuredly be missed; now,

therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

joins the family and many friends of Representative Mendez in recognizing and celebrating his

service to the people of the State of Rhode Island. We, moreover, wish him much success,

happiness, and fulfillment; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Mario F. Mendez.
