HONORING REPRESENTATIVE ROBERT B. JACQUARD FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE | |
PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, The Rhode Island House of Representatives will be losing a valued member |
2 | with the retirement of Representative Robert B. Jacquard; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Robert Jacquard graduated from La Salle Academy, received his Bachelor |
4 | of Science degree at Roger Williams University, his Master's degree in Administration of |
5 | Justice/Homeland Security from Salve Regina University, and his Juris Doctorate from Roger |
6 | Williams University School of Law; and |
7 | WHEREAS, A retired police sergeant, Robert Jacquard is married to his lovely wife, |
8 | Kathleen and is the proud father of Kathryn Jacquard. He currently works as a self-employed |
9 | attorney; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Since taking the oath of office in January of 1993, Representative Jacquard |
11 | has served his constituency with integrity and loyalty in House District 17, which covers |
12 | neighborhoods in the City of Cranston, for an inspiring twenty-eight years; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Representative Jacquard has served on myriad committees throughout his |
14 | years at the State House and has a vast knowledge and broad understanding of the legislative |
15 | process that will be greatly missed. He serves as Chair of the House Committee on Corporations, |
16 | and is also a member of the House Committee on Conduct and the House Committee on |
17 | Veterans’ Affairs; and |
18 | WHEREAS, During his tenure in the House, Representative Jacquard has successfully |
19 | sponsored a panoply of bills including legislation that allows the creation of a Superior Court |

1 | diversion program, a bill that provided consumer protections in eye care services, legislation |
2 | requiring all electrical work performed in the State to be done in accordance with the latest |
3 | edition of the National Electrical Code, and also requiring the State Building Commission to |
4 | adopt the latest edition of the National Electrical Code, to name but a few of his many |
5 | accomplishments; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Members, staff and observers of the legislative process will greatly miss the |
7 | calm demeanor and consensus building capabilities that Representative Jacquard has always |
8 | brought to long nights in committee meetings and longer nights in the House Chamber; now, |
9 | therefore be it |
10 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby |
11 | honors and commends one of the legislature’s most venerated members, the Honorable Robert |
12 | Jacquard. We moreover wish him continued success and much happiness in all his future |
13 | endeavors; and be it further |
14 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
15 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Robert B. Jacquard. |
