H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

THANKING REPRESENTATIVE JAMES B. JACKSON FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED

SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE RHODE ISLAND GENERAL ASSEMBLY

     WHEREAS, The Honorable James B. Jackson has represented the citizens of Rhode

Island House District 26, including parts of West Warwick, Coventry, and Warwick, with honor,

integrity and tireless devotion for the past two years; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Jackson graduated from Pilgrim High School in 1968 and

later earned a degree in economics from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. Representative

Jackson is a combat veteran who served our nation with courage and valor in the United States

Navy during the Vietnam War. In recognition of his exemplary service, he was awarded the

United States Combat Action Ribbon and other awards from the Vietnamese Government; and

     WHEREAS, Representative Jackson is a retired electrician with IBE #99, and currently

serves as a Commissioner on the Rhode Island Fire Safety Code Board of Appeal and Review, as

a Commissioner on the Rhode Island Rehabilitation Code Board, and is a member of the

Occupational Safety and Health Administration Hearing Board; and

     WHEREAS, As a member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, Representative

Jackson served on the Judiciary, Labor, Special Legislation and Veterans' Affairs Committees. He

is a very well-liked member who is admired for his collegial demeanor and generosity of spirit;

and

     WHEREAS, Representative Jackson is the beloved husband of Georgette and the devoted

father of Kelly Jackson and Danielle Smith; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby

thanks the Honorable James B. Jackson for his service to our State in the Rhode Island House of

Representatives and for his courageous service to our nation as a member of the United States

Navy. We wish him good health and continued success in all future endeavors; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable James B. Jackson.
