CONGRATULATING PAUL VALLETTA, JR., ON BEING PROMOTED TO THE POSITION

OF FIRE CHIEF OF THE CRANSTON FIRE DEPARTMENT

     WHEREAS, Paul Valletta, Jr., is a dedicated public servant who has worked tirelessly

throughout his exemplary career to protect the safety and property of the citizens of Cranston and

the wider community; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Valletta has served for more than thirty years with the Cranston Fire

Department, and thanks to his strong leadership abilities, attention to detail, and abiding desire to

serve the public, he steadily rose to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief and has now been promoted to

the position of Fire Chief; and

     WHEREAS, Mr. Valletta has served as the President of Firefighter Local 1363 and has

strived daily to ensure that all firefighters have the training, equipment, and proper safety

procedures to protect their lives and the public they are sworn to serve. He has also served as the

Legislative Agent for the Rhode Island Association of Firefighters, and has devoted much of his

time working to fix our State's substance abuse problems, and improve the quality of mental

health care in Rhode Island; and

     WHEREAS, Being a firefighter, who is devoted to duty and the community, is an

admirable trait, and the people of Cranston and neighboring communities have witnessed,

benefitted and enjoyed peace of mind because of Paul Valletta's reliability, loyalty, and his

numerous deeds of valor that have gone far and beyond the call of duty; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Mr. Paul Valletta, Jr., on being promoted to the

position of Fire Chief for the City of Cranston; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Paul Valletta, Jr., Deputy Fire Chief,

Cranston Fire Department.
