PUBLIC SCHOOLS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER, ON HIS RETIREMENT AFTER | |
FIFTEEN YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED AND MERITORIOUS SERVICE | |

1 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Raymond L. Votto, Jr., was born and raised in the City of |
2 | Cranston. He graduated from Cranston High School West in 1971, Bowdoin College with a |
3 | Bachelor’s degree in Government and Legal Studies in 1975, and the University of Delaware |
4 | with a Master’s degree in Banking and Administration in 1990; and |
5 | WHEREAS, After graduating in 1975, Mr. Votto embarked on a successful banking |
6 | career, working for sixteen years with Pawtucket Savings and Trust, and People’s Bank, where he |
7 | served in myriad capacities. He then served for two years as the Director of Administration for |
8 | Northeast Healthcare, and for eleven years as the Assistant Director of Patient Financial Services |
9 | with Women and Infants Hospital; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Since June of 2004, Mr. Votto has served the citizens of Cranston with |
11 | integrity and tireless devotion as the Executive Director of Human Resources & Public Relations, |
12 | and later as the Chief Operating Officer of the Cranston Public Schools. In his latter position, Mr. |
13 | Votto worked diligently to ensure that all Cranston School Department funds provided by the |
14 | taxpayers were accounted for and spent wisely; and |
15 | WHEREAS, Mr. Votto devoted much of his life in service to the citizens of Cranston. He |
16 | served with honor and integrity as a member of the Cranston City Council from 1980 to 1984, as |
17 | a Cranston School Committee Chairperson, as a member of the Cranston Financial Review |
18 | Board, and as a member of the Cranston Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. He has also |
19 | served as a member of the Coastal Resources Management Council, the Cranston YMCA Board |

1 | and the Cranston Rotary Board, and served as the United Way of Central Massachusetts |
2 | Associated Chairperson; now, therefore be it |
3 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
4 | Providence Plantations hereby congratulates the Honorable Raymond L. Votto, Jr., on his |
5 | retirement from the City of Cranston. We thank him for his many years of distinguished public |
6 | service and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors; and be it further |
7 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
8 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Raymond L. Votto, Jr. |
