H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

HONORING AND RECOGNIZING CAROLE DUMONT ON THE OCCASION OF HER

RETIREMENT AFTER MORE THAN THIRTY-THREE YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE

TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

     WHEREAS, Monday, March 17, 1986, was St. Patrick's Day. It also happened to be the

2

day that Carole Dumont joined the staff of the Rhode Island General Assembly; and

3

     WHEREAS, Access to government information is part of the foundation of a democracy.

4

Carole has been an integral part of the process of disseminating that information through her

5

work in both graphics and audio within the Department of Capitol Television for the Rhode

6

Island House of Representatives and the Rhode Island Senate; and

7

     WHEREAS, Using the Rhode Island Cable Television Statewide Interconnect System,

8

Capitol Television televises all sessions of the House and Senate, as well as hearings of the House

9

Finance Committee, select hearings of additional committees, and various press conferences and

10

special events; and

11

     WHEREAS, Carole's most recent duties as Master Controller require juggling multiple

12

assignments, meticulous attention to detail, tireless energy coordinating the many late night

13

hearings, and a very large coffee mug; and

14

     WHEREAS, Previous to joining the team at Capitol TV, Carole had gained invaluable

15

knowledge in the communications field through her employment at WPRI, Channel 12, and

16

WCVB, Channel 5 in Boston; and

17

     WHEREAS, Carole is a resident of the City of East Providence, where she shares her

18

home with Abe, a beautiful black lab and a number of assorted additional pets. Upon retirement

19

she hopes to enjoy some well-deserved time to travel and hang with her friends and pets; and

     WHEREAS, Carole Dumont's departure leaves not only very large shoes to fill, but also

2

an indelible mark on the co-workers and legislators who have had the good fortune to work by

3

her side. By virtue of her numerous years of devoted service, she is eminently worthy of our

4

recognition and praise; now, therefore be it

5

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

6

Providence Plantations hereby expresses its appreciation and gratitude to Carole Dumont for her

7

more than thirty-three years of dedicated service to the General Assembly and the people of the

8

State of Rhode Island, and wishes her well in all the years to come; and be it further

9

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

10

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Carole Dumont.
