EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THOMAS N. WALSH, JR. | |

1 | WHEREAS, Thomas N. "Tim" Walsh, Jr., passed away on December 17, 2018. He was |
2 | born in Providence, a son of the late Marjorie and Thomas Walsh, Sr.; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Mr. Walsh grew up in East Providence and spent many of his summers at |
4 | Bonnet Shores. Tim was an outstanding athlete and with his imposing six foot six frame, he was a |
5 | standout basketball player who helped his squad win a Rhode Island State Championship. He |
6 | went on to become an All-American basketball player and finished his illustrious high school |
7 | career by playing and competing at Madison Square Garden; and |
8 | WHEREAS, Mr. Walsh served our nation with honor, integrity and valorous service as a |
9 | medic in the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he embarked on a teaching career at Roger |
10 | Williams Middle School in Providence for twenty-three years. He was always a hard-working and |
11 | industrious man. In addition to his teaching career, he co-owned the Dutch Harbor Shipyard in |
12 | Jamestown. However, he always said that his favorite job was being the Narragansett Town |
13 | Beach Manager; and |
14 | WHEREAS, While teaching in Providence, Mr. Walsh met the love of his life, Kathlyne |
15 | Rego Walsh and together they built a home in Saunderstown and started a family. Tim was a |
16 | devoted family man who loved spending time with his wife and kids and especially enjoyed |
17 | taking trips to Disney World with his family. He also always spoke with his sister, Judi, every |
18 | Saturday; and |
19 | WHEREAS, Mr. Walsh was an active member of the Plum Beach Club and served on the |
20 | PBC Board of Governors. He was also a devoted fan of the University of Rhode Island Basketball |

2 | WHEREAS, Mr. Walsh leaves behind his wife, Kathlyne Rego Walsh, his daughter, |
3 | Christie Rishworth and her husband, Corey, and his son, Thomas Walsh III and his wife, |
4 | Danielle. He also leaves behind his sister, Judi Szymanski, and his grandchildren, Isabella, |
5 | Tobey, and Tommy IV; now, therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
7 | Providence Plantations hereby expresses its condolences to the Walsh Family on the passing of |
8 | Mr. Thomas N. Walsh, Jr.; and be it further |
9 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
10 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Kathlyne Rego Walsh and Family. |
