1 | WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Alice |
2 | Boss-Altman, the beloved wife of Sanford Altman, the devoted mother of Geoffrey Boss and his |
3 | wife, Monica, Andrew Boss and his wife, Melissa, and Peter Boss and his wife, Megan, and the |
4 | doting "Nani" of seven grandchildren, Charlotte, Sydney, Morgan, Hannah, Teeden, Hayes and |
5 | Pippa, whom she loved dearly; and |
6 | WHEREAS, Born in the City of Providence, a daughter of the late Raymond Costello and |
7 | Bessie Costello-Landrigan, Alice Costello grew up in Pawtucket and Narragansett, and was the |
8 | sister of John Costello and the late Elizabeth Ann Costello Sheridan, and the loving aunt of many |
9 | nieces and nephews; and |
10 | WHEREAS, Mrs. Boss-Altman attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart, and earned her |
11 | degree from Garland College; and |
12 | WHEREAS, In addition to making a warm and welcoming home for her family and |
13 | many close friends, Mrs. Boss-Altman was passionate in her devotion to numerous altruistic |
14 | causes including, serving as a board member of WaterFire Providence, and volunteering her time |
15 | and talents with The Met School, RISD Museum Associates, Providence Art Club, Meeting Street |
16 | School, as well as a panoply of mixed arts and educational organizations throughout her life; and |
17 | WHEREAS, In her leisure hours, Mrs. Boss-Altman enjoyed time with her family and the |
18 | company of her friends. She was also a member of the Dunes Club, the Providence Art Club, the |
19 | University Club and Handicraft Club, and a former member of Point Judith Country Club, Rhode |

1 | Island Country Club, Agawam Hunt Club and Lyford Cay Club; and |
2 | WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold great empathy and sorrow for the family and |
3 | friends of Alice Boss-Altman. The most fitting tribute to her would surely be a celebration of her |
4 | life, a life in which each and every day was lived fully and joyfully embraced. She will be dearly |
5 | missed and forever remembered by all who had the good fortune to be part of her glorious life; |
6 | now, therefore be it |
7 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
8 | Providence Plantations hereby extends deepest condolences on the passing of Alice Jane Costello |
9 | Boss-Altman; and be it further |
10 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
11 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Sanford Altman and Family. |
