RELATING TO PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES -- RETIREMENT SYSTEM | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 36-10 of the General Laws entitled "Retirement System - |
2 | Contributions and Benefits" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 36-10-9.8. Retirement of capitol police officers. |
4 | Notwithstanding any general, public or special law to the contrary, any capitol police |
5 | officers who took early retirement in exchange for the payment of cost-of-living allowances |
6 | ("COLAs") shall be paid said cost of living allowances in full. Any reduction of pension |
7 | payments from retirees, due to overpayment of benefits, shall be done over an extended period of |
8 | amortization, of up to ten (10) years. |
9 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

2 | who took early retirement in exchange for the payment of cost of living allowances ("COLAs"). |
3 | It would also provide that any reduction of pension benefits due to overpayment of benefits be |
4 | done over an extended period of amortization, of up to ten (10) years. |
5 | This act would take effect upon passage. |
