HONORING REPRESENTATIVE KENNETH A. MARSHALL FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE | |
PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

1 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Kenneth A. Marshall graduated from Bristol High School |
2 | and earned his Bachelor's degree from Bryant College. He and his wife, Christine, make their |
3 | home in the Town of Bristol and are the proud parents of Anthony, Kenneth, Makenzie, and |
4 | Amanda and grandparents of Emerson; and |
5 | WHEREAS, Representative Marshall began his dedicated career in public service on the |
6 | Bristol Town Council, where he served from 2002 until 2012, including six years as Council |
7 | Chairperson. In addition, he was a member of the town's Zoning Board from 1997 through 2002; |
8 | and |
9 | WHEREAS, In November of 2012, the Honorable Ken Marshall was elected to the |
10 | Rhode Island House of Representatives from District 68, which encompasses neighborhoods in |
11 | the Towns of Bristol and Warren; and |
12 | WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Representative Marshall has served his constituents |
13 | and the citizens of Rhode Island with dedication and distinction, and has earned the admiration |
14 | and respect of his colleagues, most recently serving as a Member of the House Committee on |
15 | Small Business; and |
16 | WHEREAS, As a tireless advocate for his constituency, Representative Marshall |
17 | sponsored legislation aimed at encouraging economic development, including improving |
18 | insurance regulations, the minimum corporate tax, and a revolving fund for road and bridge |
19 | repair. In addition, he championed legislation allowing for the creation of Boston Bruins |

1 | Foundation license plates and has established commissions to study the effects of instituting a line |
2 | item veto, and methods to attract sailing events to the state; and |
3 | WHEREAS, Active in the community, Representative Marshall is a member and past |
4 | Chair of the Bristol Democratic Committee, and served as the Vice Chair of the Mount Hope |
5 | Enterprise Zone, which worked with new and existing businesses to foster economic growth in |
6 | the East Bay area; and |
7 | WHEREAS, The Honorable Ken Marshall has touched the lives of so many people |
8 | through his diligent efforts and with the legislation he has fought to enact. He is truly an |
9 | extraordinary man, who serves as a model of dedicated and conscientious civic service, and he is |
10 | eminently worthy of our gratitude and acknowledgement; now, therefore be it |
11 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
12 | Providence Plantations hereby honors Representative Kenneth A. Marshall as he concludes his |
13 | service in the Rhode Island General Assembly. We thank him for a job well done, and extend our |
14 | sincere wishes for his continued health, happiness, and success; and be it further |
15 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
16 | transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable Kenneth A. Marshall. |
