1 | WHEREAS, The Rhode Island Law Enforcement Accreditation Program was established |
2 | in 2012 and is managed by the Rhode Island Police Accreditation Commission (RIPAC). This |
3 | program provides the mechanism by which law enforcement agencies can ensure civic leaders |
4 | and citizens that their departments meet the highest standards, and practice the best methods |
5 | within the law enforcement profession. The RIPAC program is a rigorous process consisting of |
6 | 200 standards that address the most important issues facing police departments and law |
7 | enforcement agencies; and |
8 | WHEREAS, During a Coventry Town Council meeting that took place on January 28, |
9 | 2019, Coventry Police Chief Colonel John MacDonald delivered the good news to the Coventry |
10 | community that the Coventry Police Department, for the first time in Department history, had |
11 | earned accreditation from the Rhode Island Police Accreditation Commission. Chief MacDonald |
12 | stated that attaining accreditation was very difficult and time-consuming and would have been |
13 | impossible without the countless hours of hard work and tireless devotion provided over the past |
14 | several years by the Department’s Accreditation Managers, Captain Pete Zalabowski and |
15 | Lieutenant Gary Miller; now, therefore be it |
16 | RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
17 | Providence Plantations hereby congratulates the Coventry Police Department on achieving |
18 | accreditation from the Rhode Island Police Accreditation Commission; and be it further |
19 | RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
