RELATING TO BUSINESSES AND PROFESSIONS - BOARD OF MEDICAL LICENSURE | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Chapter 5-37 of the General Laws entitled "Board of Medical Licensure and |
2 | Discipline" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |
3 | 5-37-2.2. Reciprocal licensure. |
4 | (a) The board shall license an applicant to practice medicine if the applicant: |
5 | (1) Became licensed or certified as a physician in another jurisdiction under requirements |
6 | that the board determines are substantially equivalent to the licensing requirements of this |
7 | chapter; |
8 | (2) Is in good standing under the laws of the other jurisdiction; |
9 | (3) Submits an application, on a form prescribed by the board, presenting the facts which |
10 | entitle the applicant to practice under this chapter; and |
11 | (4) Pays a nonrefundable application fee in a total amount as set forth in ยง 23-1-54. |
12 | (b) The board shall adopt, amend, and rescind rules and regulations, with the approval of |
13 | the director, necessary to carry out the provisions of this section. |
14 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

2 | reciprocal licensure of physicians from other jurisdictions under certain conditions, and in |
3 | connection therewith, requires the board to promulgate applicable rules and regulations. |
4 | This act would take effect upon passage. |
