EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JOSEPH P. IACIOFANO

     WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this House has learned of the passing of

2

Joseph P. Iaciofano, beloved husband of Elizabeth Iaciofano for 58 years, cherished father of

3

Joseph Iaciofano and his wife, Sheri Lepore, and Gina Iaciofano and her husband, Gregory

4

Hattoy, and the very proud grandfather of Joseph Iaciofano, Ella and Alexander Hattoy, and

5

Drew and Ali Blanchard; and

6

     WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Mr. Iaciofano, affectionately known as Joe or “Little

7

Joe” by his family and close friends, was a son of the late Cosmo and Assunta Iaciofano, and the

8

brother of Anthony Iaciofano. He grew up in Knightsville, Cranston, and was a graduate of

9

Cranston High School, where he was a member of its State Championship Football team; and

10

     WHEREAS, Upon graduation, Mr. Iaciofano began working as a milkman and soon

11

thereafter, started his real estate career at Acciardo & Colardo. He and his wife settled in North

12

Providence and Joe's career in Real Estate boomed, advancing from selling houses, to building

13

them. After 56 years in real estate, he had amassed an impressive portfolio of commercial real

14

estate in New England. He was also one of the main architects in the building of and recent

15

renaissance of North Providence; and

16

     WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Iaciofano authored a book “Cousin Joey” in which he told

17

the story of his life; and

18

     WHEREAS, Mr. Iaciofano was a self-taught golf devotee, who could hit the ball further

19

than players twice his size. He began playing at the old 18 hole, Louisquisset Country Club and

20

later became a member of Quidnessett Country Club and Pawtucket Country Club, as well as

playing with the A-Train crew at Metacomet Country Club, and the Rinky Dinks at West Palm

2

Beach Municipal. Among his many golfing accomplishments were winning the RI Golf

3

Association Major events, four RIGA Senior 4-Ball Championships, and three with his partner

4

Brad Faxon Sr., and three RIGA Father – Son titles; and

5

     WHEREAS, Joe Iaciofano was a devoted family man, a successful businessman and a

6

true gentleman, who was always there to lend a helping hand to friends and family in need. He

7

will be greatly missed by all; now, therefore be it

8

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

9

Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Joseph P.

10

Iaciofano; and be it further

11

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

12

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Elizabeth Iaciofano and Family.
