A N   A C T

RELATING TO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES -- CITY OF PROVIDENCE RETAIL LICENSES

     

     Introduced By: Representatives Diaz, Almeida, Slater, Williams, and Perez

     It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 3-7 of the General Laws entitled "Retail Licenses" is hereby

amended by adding thereto the following sections:

     3-7-16.10. Class Q license.

     (a) Notwithstanding any provision of any city or state laws to the contrary, the local

5

licensing board of the city of Providence has the power to grant and may grant on request, a

6

license for the retail sale of alcoholic beverages at 1007 Broad Street, Plat 53, Lot 192 and 1017

7

Broad Street, Plat 53, Lot 582 which may be utilized as a restaurant. The license may be granted

8

to the owner, lessee or to other person, firm, or corporation in possession of the aforesaid

9

property for the operation of a restaurant. The class Q license grants:

10

     (i) The right to keep for sale and to sell beverages at retail at the place described in the

11

license and to deliver those beverages for consumption on the premises on the condition that the

12

premises not be used for the following purposes:

13

     (1) Adult use, including adult bookstore/retail, adult arcade, adult cabaret, adult motion

14

picture theater, and adult hotel/motel;

15

     (2) Amusement/entertainment/sports facility - Indoor (pool hall);

16

     (3) Apartment dormitory;

17

     (4) Compassion center/cultivation center;

18

     (5) Contractor storage yard;

19

     (6) Fraternity/sorority;

 

1

     (7) Landfill;

2

     (8) Materials processing;

3

     (9) Nightclub;

4

     (10) Retail sales of alcohol;

5

     (11) Storage yard - Outdoor;

6

     (12) Any business holding a "check cashier" license under R.I.G.L. Ch. 19-14.4;

     (13) Self-storage center;

8

     (14) Residential purposes; and

9

     (15) Hotels.

     (b) The annual fee for the license shall be the same as a class B license in the city.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

     This act would authorize the city of Providence to issue a retail liquor license to

businesses located at 1007 Broad Street, Plat 53, Lot 192 and 1017 Broad Street, Plat 53, Lot 582

while prohibiting many other listed purposes.

     This act would take effect upon passage.
