EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF KEVIN M. MURRAY

     WHEREAS, Kevin M. Murray of Rumford, Rhode Island, passed away on February 3,

2

2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Ellen M.

3

Murray; and

4

     WHEREAS, Kevin M. Murray was born in Providence, Rhode Island, son of Carolyn M.

5

Murray and the late Joseph E. Murray. Mr. Murray was an exemplary elementary school teacher

6

for the Woonsocket School Department for the last seventeen years. He was also employed in the

7

1980’s as a residential counselor at Ocean Tides-De Lasalle Christian Brothers; and

8

     WHEREAS, For more than forty years, the game of Lacrosse was a significant part of

9

Mr. Murray’s life. His passion for the sport was immense. He was an exceptional player,

10

teammate and coach, and his impact on the lives of countless young men will endure forever. He

11

was the Head Coach at Bishop Hendricken High School where he won five State Championships,

12

and previously was the Head Coach at La Salle Academy and Providence College. As a player,

13

Kevin was the Captain of his team at La Salle Academy and was named to the All State and All

14

New England teams. He also played in college on nationally ranked teams at L.I.U.-C.W. Post

15

University. Additionally, Kevin was honored by being named a coach of the Boys National High

16

School All Star Showcase team and the Men’s Division One College North-South All Star Game.

17

He was also a member of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Lacrosse Advisory Board and

18

Director of Roots Lacrosse; and

19

     WHEREAS, Kevin was a dedicated husband and father who always put his family first.

Besides his wife and mother, he leaves behind his five children, Sean Murray, Alice Zossou,

Daniel Murray, Michael Murray, and Jake Murray. He also leaves behind two brothers, Steven D.

2

Murray and Joseph E. Murray, Jr., and his wife, Nicole, and their three children, Nicholas

3

Mercurio, Emmah Murray, and Ella Murray, two grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews;

4

now, therefore be it

5

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

6

Providence Plantations hereby expresses its condolences to the Murray Family on the passing of

7

Kevin M. Murray; and be it further

8

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

9

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ellen M. Murray and Family.
