It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
1 | SECTION 1. Section 42-66.9-1 of the General Laws in Chapter 42-66.9 entitled |
2 | "Housing for the Elderly - Emergency Generators Required" is hereby amended to read as |
3 | follows: |
4 | 42-66.9-1. Emergency generators required. |
5 | All housing for the elderly complexes, as defined in § 42-66.1-2, which are may be |
6 | serviced by one or more elevators and/or electrically powered chair lifts, and which include more |
7 | than one hundred (100) five (5) residential living units ("unit") in a single building shall be |
8 | equipped with emergency generators which shall provide sufficient power: to provide emergency |
9 | lighting to all common areas and a community room; and power to operate the elevators and a |
10 | refrigerator in a common area; to operate a refrigerator in each unit; and to provide power to at |
11 | least one other electrical outlet in each unit. Generator systems shall be in accordance with the |
12 | national electric code and § 23-28.24-9. |
13 | SECTION 2. This act shall take effect on July 1, 2019. |
