H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

AMENDING THE MEMBERSHIP AND EXTENDING THE REPORTING AND

EXPIRATION DATES OF THE SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE COMMISSION TO STUDY THE

EFFICACY AND COST OF IMPLEMENTING A RECYCLING PROGRAM FOR ALL

MULTI-FAMILY RESIDENTIAL UNITS, INCLUDING CONDOMINIUM COMPLEXES

     RESOLVED, That the special legislative commission created by resolution No. 347

2

passed by the House of Representatives at its January session, A.D. 2017, and approved June 27,

3

2017, entitled "House Resolution Creating a Special Legislative Commission to Study the

4

Efficacy and Cost of Implementing a recycling program for all Multi-Family Residential Units,

5

Including Condominium Complexes" is hereby authorized to continue its study and make a report

6

to the House of Representatives on or before February 7, 2019, and said commission shall expire

7

on May 7, 2019; and be it further

8

     RESOLVED, That the time for reporting authorized by resolution No. 344 passed by the

9

House of Representatives at its January session, A.D. 2017, and approved June 27, 2017, be and

10

the same is hereby rescinded; and be it further

11

     RESOLVED, That the composition of said house commission is hereby amended to

12

consist of nine (9) members: three (3) of whom shall be members of the Rhode Island House of

13

Representatives, two (2) of whom shall be members of the minority party, and one of whom shall

14

be a member of the majority party, to be appointed by the Speaker of the House; one of whom

15

shall be the Director of the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, or

16

designee; one of whom shall be the Executive Director of the Rhode Island Resource Recovery

17

Corporation, or designee; one of whom shall be the President of the Rhode Island Association of

18

Realtors, or designee; one of whom shall be a member of the Board of Directors for a

Condominium Association, to be appointed by the Speaker of the House; one of whom shall be a

2

member of the general public, to be appointed by the Speaker of the House; and one of whom

3

shall be the Director of the Rhode Island Department of Health.

     This resolution would amend and increase the membership from five (5) to nine (9) and

2

extend the reporting and expiration dates of the special legislative commission to study the

3

efficacy and cost of implementing a recycling program for multi-family residential units, from

4

February 6, 2018, to February 7, 2019, and said commission would expire on May 7, 2019.
