EXTENDING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF LOIS R. O'CONNOR

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Lois R.

2

O'Connor, longtime resident of the Village of Chepachet, beloved wife of the late Robert J.

3

O'Connor, and the devoted mother of Lynn Tucker and her husband, Gary, Susan Walsh and her

4

husband, Mark, Robert M. O'Connor and his fiancee, Robin Walters, and Kathy Ballou and her

5

husband Bob Thomsen; and

6

     WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Mrs. O'Connor was the daughter of the late Gunnar and

7

Ella Mortenson, and the sister of Judith McCarthy and her husband, John McCarthy, and Alice

8

Rachlow. She attained her Bachelor's degree from Rhode Island College and had worked as a

9

social worker for Rhode Island's DCYF for more than twenty years, retiring in 2003; and

10

     WHEREAS, In addition to her children, Mrs. O'Connor, who was affectionately known

11

as "Nana Boo Boo" was the cherished grandmother of eight grandchildren, Shaun Tucker,

12

Jennifer Shields, Christy Long, Jeremie and Nicole Ballou, Ethan, Jake and Annie Walsh, and

13

nine great-grandchildren, Ava, Levi, and Jonas Tucker, Riley, Avery, and Chase Shields, and

14

Madelyn, Gunnar, and Wyatt Long; and

15

     WHEREAS, Lois O'Connor's loving personality created a home that was warm and

16

welcoming, where her grandchildren often played, and where she could gaze out her windows at

17

animals scampering about and the beauty of nature; and

18

     WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Lois O'Connor, a kind and generous woman, left an

19

indelible mark on the lives of those she knew and loved, and she will be dearly missed and

20

always remembered; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

2

Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the O'Connor Family on the

3

passing of Lois R. O'Connor; and be it further

4

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

5

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Lynn Tucker and Family, Susan Walsh and

6

Family, Robert M. O'Connor and Family, and Kathy Ballou and Family.
