EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JOHN FRANCIS CARDOZA

     WHEREAS, John Francis Cardoza passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017. He

2

was the beloved husband of Sandra I. Cardoza; and

3

     WHEREAS, Mr. Cardoza, a lifelong resident of Providence, was born on September 3,

4

1942, the son of the late Paul M. and Isabelle M. Cardoza and Josephine E. Cardoza. He was a

5

graduate of the New England Institute of Anatomy in 1974. He later purchased Bell Funeral, Inc.,

6

an endeavor he operated successfully for thirty-six years before his retirement in 2010. He

7

devoted much of his life to funeral service and assisted countless families in their time of grief

8

with immense compassion and peerless and courteous service; and

9

     WHEREAS, Mr. Cardoza was a member of Otha Boone Lodge #931 I.B.P.O.E.W. Elks,

10

and served as a Past Exalted Ruler, Past Grand Exalted Ruler, Past State President, and held

11

several positions in the State Association; and

12

     WHEREAS, Mr. Cardoza was a Past Worshipful Master of Celestial Lodge #2, F.&A.M.

13

(PHA), a 33rd degree Mason, a Shriner, and a Past Grand Master. He had received numerous

14

community awards in honor and recognition of his distinguished career of community service. He

15

was also a member of the National Funeral Directors and Morticians Association, and was a

16

longtime member of the International Order of the Golden Rule; and

17

     WHEREAS, Besides his wife Sandra, Mr. Cardoza leaves behind his daughter, Christine

18

M. Cardoza, and her mother, Beverly A. Cardoza. He also leaves behind two brothers, Paul M.

19

Cardoza, Jr., and his wife, Ernestine Cardoza, and Benjamin Little and his wife, Juliana Crane, a

20

sister, Joan Fields, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends; now,

therefore be it

2

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

3

Providence Plantations hereby expresses its condolences to the Cardoza Family on the passing of

4

John Francis Cardoza; and be it further

5

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

6

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Sandra I. Cardoza and Family.
