J O I N T   R E S O L U T I O N

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $1,700,000 TO THE STATE RETIREMENT SYSTEM

     RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treasury not

otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2016-2017 the sum of one million seven hundred

thousand dollars ($1,700,000) to the employees' retirement system of Rhode Island ("ERSRI")

established pursuant to Title 36 of the General Laws as repayment of a loan extended by ERSRI

to the Gateway Eight Limited Partnership, in anticipation of development and renovation of the

American Express Building or AmEx Building, so-called, also known as the Gateway Center, and

located at One American Express Plaza, 99 Park Row, Providence, Rhode Island. The state

controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw their orders upon the general treasurer for the

payment of said sum or so much thereof as may be from time to time required, upon receipt by

them of properly authenticated vouchers.

     This joint resolution would authorize the appropriation of the sum of one million seven

hundred thousand dollars ($1,700,000) to the state retirement system as repayment of money

originally borrowed in regard to the AmEx Building, also known as the Gateway Center.
