H O U S E   R E S O L U T I O N

CONGRATULATING GREGG'S RESTAURANTS AND PUBS ON THE OPENING OF ITS

NEW WARWICK TAVERN

     WHEREAS, In 1972, Bob and Bobbie Bacon, together with their partner, Chad Verdi,

opened the very first Gregg's Restaurant in Warwick, Rhode Island; and

     WHEREAS, Built on a foundation of good food, good service, and affordable prices, and

ensconced in a comfortable family-style atmosphere, the first Gregg's Restaurant became an

immediate success story; and

     WHEREAS, Throughout the ensuing years, additional Gregg's Restaurants were opened,

with current locations in Warwick, Providence, East Providence and North Kingstown,

employing hundreds of Rhode Islanders; and

     WHEREAS, In spring of 2016, the grand opening of Gregg's Tavern, located on Post

Road in Warwick, was launched and will assuredly be tantalizing the taste buds and quenching

the thirst of both loyal Gregg's patrons as well as newly delighted visitors; and

     WHEREAS, From the original concept, through its construction and final placement of

beautiful art work to grace the interior, the new Tavern was completely designed, built and

outfitted by more than fifty local Rhode Island companies and artisans; and

     WHEREAS, Synonymous with Rhode Island and replete with enjoyment and gastro-

satisfaction, the Gregg's Restaurant & Pubs have been adding to the vitality of our state for more

than four decades; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

Providence Plantations hereby congratulates Gregg's Restaurant & Pubs on the opening of its new

Tavern. We moreover extend our sincere wishes for many more decades of successfully

delighting our palate and bolstering Rhode Island’s economy; and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Bob and Bobbie Bacon, Chad Verdi, and Lisa

Doucet-Albert, Regan Communications Group.
